Deciding where your family can vacation is an important task that needs careful research. Traditionally, island resorts offer the most inclusive packages and fun for the family as a whole.
Vacation Island Family Resorts – Sanibel Island
Florida’s spectacular Sanibel Island offers many possibilities for the traveling family. There are so many family-friendly activities you won’t have enough time in your vacation to try them all. Many of the resorts offer multiple sparkling pools, areas for fishing with fishing experts, hopping from island to island, renting sun floats and inner tubes, renting kayaks, canoes and powerboats. These fun in the sun activities will keep your family busy for days! There are also boutiques and high-end shops to fill all your souvenir desires and golf courses aplenty for the golf lovers in the family. There is also dolphin watching and some resorts have dive-in movies.
Vacation Island Family Resorts – Amelia Island
Amelia Island is located 30 miles north of Jacksonville, Florida. There is something for every age group at Amelia Island. For kids under 10 there are kids camps, offered to kids while Mom and Dad play elsewhere on the island. These camps include arts and crafts, games, nature clinics, golf and tennis clinics plus lots and lots of swimming.
Teens are offered their own activities; those between 11 and 19 and who don’t want to hang with Mom and Dad can join the Teen Explorers group. Pizza and movie nights, bowling, trips to the zoo, beach fire pits and paintball are all apart of the scene.
Vacation Island Family Resorts – Hilton Head
Hilton Head, South Carolina is one of the premiere and most popular vacation spots for families. Fairly centrally located along the eastern seaboard, it is easy to access and offers great temperatures throughout the year. The family activities available at Hilton Head include parasailing, sailing charters, fishing charters, wave runner rentals, dolphin cruises, kayaking and more. The Sandbox is an educational and fun interactive museum for children. There is horseback riding available in the area as well as fireworks in the summer and nature tours all year round. There are also rollerblade skate parks nearby, mini golf, playgrounds, and sports parks.
Vacation Island Family Resorts – Jekyll Island
Jekyll Island is one of the Georgia Great Barrier Islands. There is so much to do on this island you may never want to leave. Ten miles of beaches on Jekyll Island are there for sunbathing, swimming and nautical nature observing. Hermit crabs and sand dollars abound on these beaches. Nature walks are available that include bird and sea turtle watching, as well as observing all of the natural habitants of Georgia’s barrier coastline.
Kids and their parents can also participate in a game called “Geocaching” for those who use GPS users. To play this game you access a particular website provided at the hotel then lock in your coordinates and find hidden treasures. Those who don’t own a GPS unit can rent one.
Whichever island destination you choose for your family adventure, research it thoroughly to be sure every member of the family has activities to fill their days.
